Word Grid - Select 5 of your words and using all the letters brainstorm other words that commence with each of the letters that make up the word - brainstorm 5, 6, and 7 letter words.
Sentences - Select 5 of your spelling words to put into complex, descriptive sentences that make snese. Use adjectives and adverbs to enhance meaning.
Alliteration - Choose 3 words from your list to make a short phrase using alliteraction. eg: rabbits running over roses. Peter Piper picked a pack of pickled peppers.
Mnenomics - Make up your own mnemonic for 5 of your words. eg: rhythm = rhythm helps your two hips move.
Syllables - Classify your words according to the number of syllables they have. Rule up a table to classify your words and highlight the syllables in each word eg: cor/ner, ac/com/mo/da/tion.
Definitions - Select 5 of your words and explain what each word means. Use a dictionary to help but remember to make sure you understand what you are writing. Write whether the word is a verb, noun, adjective or adverb.
Thesaurus Rex - Select 5 of your words; use a thesaurus to find synonyms and antonyms for the word. Select 2 synonyms and 2 antonyms, look these words up in a dictionary and record their menaing.
Paragraphs - Write all your words into a paragraph.
Crosswords - Create a crossword using all your words. Write clues for each word and use any app of your choice to complete the activitiy.
Venn Diagram - Select 5 of your words and place in the middle of a two circle venn diagram. Break the word into two letter patterns. eg: through - th, ough. List 10 words for each letter patern in each circle. Create a venn diagram for each word on your list.
Highest Value - Let A=1, B=2, etc. Which of your words has the highest point score? Which has the smallest? Guess before you calculate the answer. Show all working out.
Wordart - Write all your spelling words in an app of your choice or use colour pencils to write some of your words in an attractive style - 1 page. Try and be creatice and use different fonts.
Acrostic Poem - Write an acrostic poem for 5 of your words. The words or sentences that you use in the peom must be about the key word.
