The study of mathematics is mandatory from Kindergarten to Year 10.
By studying mathematics, students learn to work mathematically – developing fluency, understanding, problem-solving, reasoning and communication skills.
The syllabus consists of the following strands:
- number and algebra
- measurement and geometry
- statistics and probability.
Quality mathematics
Mathematics is taught daily at Marayong Public School. Students are supported in developing a deep understanding of mathematical concepts through the implementation of quality learning, flexible and differentiated groups and with a range of resources. Teachers assist students to make connections between concepts and relate learning to life beyond the classroom. Problem solving is at the core of our programs with students taught to not only practise but also apply their knowledge and skills.
